I work internationally (and remotely!) for exhibitions and events both in Germany nationally and internationally.

ART IN MOTION

HKU University of the Arts, Utrecht, Holland 13-14 Jun 2019

Over eight weeks, professionals from different art disciplines worked with artist Aidan Boyle. We experimented how movement, image, sound, and light can supplement, strengthen and influence each other and how we can enhance this experiment with technology, particularly“Motion Capture”. What if there are no borders between the body and what we hear and see?

Devotion

Festival Fécule, Lausanne, Switzerlandd 11 May 2019

"Devotion" is a dance and visual performance exploring the feeling of commitment in our daily lives. The small or big acts of dedication to our family, friends, loved ones, and strangers can give us a feeling of exaltation, but are also often perceived as a burden. The conflict between selfishness and altruism lies at the heart of "Devotion". Directed and choreographed by Veneta Gerganova. Video by RightHereRightNow>>

Academics on the Move

Touro College, Berlin 14 Dec 2018

A sound installation conceptualised for the research-oriented interdisciplinary seminar "Academics on the Move 2018" - an encounter which sought to critically examine historical as well as current perceptions and discourses about academics who, due to institutional, structural or political constraints, were forced to leave their home country and seek exile elsewhere. Soundbites from interviews with academics were played in the conference space using a drunken walk algorithm. more>>

Ghid Guidance System

Collaboration with REPLICA, 14 Nov 2018

This is Ghid, a little guidance systems that reacts through visual and audio, and which is the perfect partner for some simple human-human-machine trust exercises. A cool combination of hardware, Max patch, a bit of processing code for the colours and sounds, and training of the machine learning algorithm using Wekinator. Some wheels added so that it may follow us around.

Dis-Connect 2018

Üfer Studios, Berlin, 8-9 June 2018

DIS-CONNECT is a contemporary dance theater about the fundamental human needs attachment and separation. The dances are raw images of everyday life, telling their own story: Flow-like moments of connection battle with agitating moments of disconnect, displaying the existing antagonism between wanting to belong and wanting to detach. At times, connection arises effortlessly, at times connection is impeded, at times connection is the opposite of what we desire. DIS-CONNECT offers spaces of movement to (re-) discover yourself. bodytext

Gorki Theater, Berlin 1,2 Feb 2018

Handwriting and graffiti play a crucial role in the upheavals around the world. They are used by opponents of regimes as the only method not subject to control of expressing their opinions. Over the last twenty years, calligraphy in Iran has also enjoyed a renaissance, and is one element in much of the graffiti. In the dance performance body text, writing becomes legible and disappears again. The dancers become text bodies themselves – how can the space between the signs be read, and what does it mean if your system of writing is taken away from you? Choreographer: Modjgan Hashemian.

Nervous Bench

Kunstmuseum, Bonn. 26 Oct 2017

I co-produced the Nervöse Bank / Nervous Bench (2017) with Nadia Kaabe-Linke. This is a sound installation that is an intervention executed on one of the benches of the Kunstmuseum Bonn. Visitors sitting down on the bench enable a hidden mechanism that will run a compilation of nervous movements — medically referred to as "restless motion disorder" — that have been collected at various transit places and waiting halls in administration offices. The movements are converted in unbearable knocks that are induced onto the three seats of the bench. Each seethes its very own nervous characteristics.

Cora mesophyl

Arts Technology Research Lab
Dublin, Ireland. 2012

An experimental dance-theatre performance using Interactive audio-visuals are generated using motion-tracking technologies and biometric data processing. It was shown in the Arts Technology Research Lab as part of the 10 Days in Dublin Festival.

It is an experimental physical-theatre performance. It is set in a bio-fictional world of genetic manipulation and technological ubiquity, where 'Cora' and 'Jo' are confronted with their deep need for connection within the banality of their daily lives. They must negotiate not only the subjective contours of their encounter but also those play parameters of the fluid environment they inhabit.

Stillness

Theaterspace
Bremen, Germany. 2011

Stillness is a contemporary dance production about moments in which our lives stand still, moments in which we take a breath, moments in which we take a minute or two to clear our minds from our overly-busy present day lives.

It explores moments that are rare today, mostly because we refrain from creating these spaces in our daily routines. The phenomenon of stillness is explored through the art of dance, reactive sound and visuals.

Dreamcatcher

Samuel Beckett Theatre
Dublin, Ireland. 2010

In Dreamcatcher, the dancer moves through a dream-world, her movements create musical patterns and rhythms, morphing the soundscape and provoking unusual sonic experiences in real-time.

The stage becomes a reactive environment, a virtual touchless instrument. The performer "plays" it, producing sounds that are somewhat unfamiliar to us.

Director / Producer / Sound Design: Aidan Boyle

Choreographer / Director: Özen Odag

G-Spots

Campins, Sao Paulo, Brazil. 2009

G-spots is a dynamic and participatory installation based on an interactive sensory platform. The aesthetic angle is focussed on an "energy" context. This energy encompasses all of our behavioural compulsions (Western psychoanalysis) and our "Karma" (Eastern philosophy). In this work we consider the systemic transfer of energy to be the first link between information and matter, under the intersection of Eastern philosophy with Western psychoanalysis.

Co-Director / Producer / Sound Design: Aidan Boyle

Co-Director / Visuals: Paulo Teles
